Stepping into the role of practice lead for the largest practice at 1904labs might be intimidating to some but not for Kelly Hopson. Having held previous positions as Full Stack Developer and Assistant Practice Lead in her 3 years at 1904labs, Kelly was recently promoted to Modern Software Engineering Practice Lead.

In her new role, Kelly will oversee all of the Full Stack, DevOps, and Mobile Engineers in the company. She is responsible for career mentoring, advising on tools/techniques, learning resources, and the curation/creation of training materials for members of her practice. Kelly will also support other areas of 1904labs by contributing technical content, presenting at knowledge transfer activities (Lunch-and-Learns, Study Groups, etc.), and facilitating open source adoption.

Kelly graduated from DePaul University, having studied computer science, user experience, and digital design. She took a Java class for fun but loved it so much that she changed her major. Over the course of her career, Kelly has had the opportunity to help build many amazing things, including an application that tracks nuclear weapons parts, fantasy sports analytics, and beautiful parallax marketing sites. Her favorite piece of software she built was writing a mortgage calculator for one of the big credit reporting agencies.
